2023 Education and Advocacy Summit

    You are invited to the Education and Advocacy Summit hosted by the Conference of Educational Administrators of Schools and Programs for the Deaf, Gallaudet University Maguire Welcome Center, Gallaudet University Government Department, the Center for Democracy in Deaf America, and the National Association of the Deaf. The summit will occur in Washington, D.C., on February 21-23, 2023. The summit is free. 

    Tuesday, February 21:
    • 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. - Gallaudet Visit. Learn about Gallaudet University and meet with Gallaudet student ambassadors to learn from their experiences during this tour & lunch. (Sponsored by Gallaudet University Maguire Welcome Center) 
    • 1:00-4:30 p.m.– Youth Workshop. An interactive training session on legislative advocacy with special guest presenters and more! (Sponsored by Gallaudet University Deaf Studies Department, Gallaudet University Government Department, Center for Democracy in Deaf America, and National Association of the Deaf.)

    Wednesday, February 22:
    • 10:00-11:30 a.m.- Legislative briefing on language access and Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).
    • 12:00 p.m. - Meetings with your senators/representatives on the Hill!
    • 4:30-6:00 p.m. - Wrap up dinner.
